Denman Out, Sowell In, Owls Win 35-21

Owls redeem themselves for at least 1 game against Air Force this weekend, and man what a game it was. Both teams showed some roughneck defense in the trenches this weekend, but it was the Owls running game that would prevail. Man oh man, did that running game ever prevail.

I want to take some time off from this game, and examine this outstanding runningback.

Ray Sowell HB # 31, Freshman(RS) 5'11" 200 LBS. Explosive, quick, elusive, and agile, all attributes that describe this runningback. And remember folks, he is only a Freshman. That means he has a future with our ball club, he has a chance to make a definite impact which could lead to our program being noticed by BCS polls.

Back to the game at hand, our pass defense looked a little under the weather today. They could not stop the deep pass, on the few attempts that Air Force took. I blame the Air Force coaching on that move, if something is working, why not go to it again, and again, and again, that's what our coaches did in the running game, so why did they not do it in the passing game? I don't know, maybe the football gods were looking down on this Owls squad and gave them a little help today. If we expect to win close games, that pass defense is going to have to strap those receivers and continue to stop the running game at all cost.
